Suppose you come across an ad for your dream job or you are fresh out of school and looking to get a great job. Here are a few tips for landing a good job.

Be sure you have your well-written CV and Cover letter ready.

Build your capacity: Find out the skills valued within your profession, learn those skills and do not fail to include that in your CV.

Do not apply for jobs in another city if you are not willing to relocate.

Customise your CV/Resume to always match the position you apply for.

Let people know you are searching for a job. Instead of telling people to link you up with jobs, you should let them know what you can do, your experience and skills and suggest they link you up with jobs that match your level of experience.

Include a cover letter to your application. Do not make your cover letter look like another resume but highlight why you are the right fit for that position. You are allowed to brag subtly about why you should be hired not a description of your previous job.

Asides looking for a job on the internet, do not forget to network with professionals.

N.B: Referrals mean a lot in the hiring process.

We all want a good job with great pay but before meeting the hiring manager for that interview, there are few things to know to avoid answering "How much should we pay you" question.

Research about the salary range of the role in the industry the company belongs to, working conditions, alternative compensation and other perks that might be attached to the job.

Set a realistic expectation and let the hiring manager understand you deserve what you are requesting.

State why you deserve such pay by briefing them on your skills, achievements and the value you are bringing with you to the company.

Let the employer take the lead and go with the flow.

State what you are worth and comfortable with and negotiate with confidence.
